Second Chance Day on the Hill

Vinland National Center became part of the solution yesterday at the Minnesotan Capitol, supporting the Minnesota Second Chance Coalition along with many of our peers and colleagues.

So many of our clients and alumni are not given a real Second Chance due to a past felony conviction often not enabling them to drive, get a job or even further their education due to such past mistakes. 63,000 Minnesotans cannot vote due to a felony conviction.

It’s time to #RestoreTheVote and advance fair and responsible laws, policies and practices that enable those impacted by the justice system to reach their fullest potential.

We were joined in support by Commissioner of Corrections Paul Schnell; Senator Bobby Joe Champion; Representative Dave Pinto; Representative Rena Moran; Majority Leader of the House Ryan Winkler; Representative Raymond Dehn, who authored the ‘Restore the Vote’ bill; State Senator Julie Rosen; State Senator Scott Dibble; Senator Melisa Franzen and Secretary of State Steve Simon, among many others!
