Drug and Alcohol Addiction Treatment

If you have struggled to keep up with group material or assignments at other addiction treatment centers, Vinland Center could be a better program for you. Our addiction rehab program is designed for individuals* with memory issues, learning disabilities, and/or other cognitive impairments.

Vinland provides drug and alcohol treatment for adults with cognitive impairments. Our staff members strive to make all possible accommodations for cognitive deficits and adaptations for individual learning styles.

Vinland is a fully-accredited substance abuse treatment center licensed by the State of Minnesota. We use evidence-based approaches to addiction treatment. Our staff are highly-trained and licensed professionals.

At our residential treatment program, we provide integrated mental health services. For individuals struggling with a dual diagnosis of substance abuse and mental health issues, integrated treatment provides better recovery outcomes.

*Please note: as of February 2020, Vinland's residential program serves only male-identifying individuals, while our outpatient facility serves all genders. We also ceased Family Programming to include visiting family members at that time. If you need a list of residential or inpatient referral options that have worked well with our female-identifying clients in the past, feel free to reach out to

Services for Residential Program

The following services are offered as part of our Residential Substance Use Disorder Program

Our residential facility currently only treats adult males. Our outpatient facility treats all genders.

Clients work individually with case managers to ensure that individual needs are appropriately met.

Group topics vary, and discussions are conducted at a moderate pace.

Psychologist, psychiatrist, and mental health professionals provide on-site and integrated mental health services. Integrating substance abuse treatment and mental health services provides better recovery outcomes for individuals struggling with a dual diagnosis.

An exercise physiologist designs a personalized program to improve their strength, flexibility, balance, coordination, posture, and body mechanics. Many of our clients have issues related to chronic pain, musculoskeletal injuries, and/or traumatic brain injury, which makes personalized programs a necessity.

Developed in partnership with the University of Minnesota’s Center for Spirituality & Healing, Vinland offers an adapted mindfulness meditation program. Studies prove that meditation improves recovery outcomes.

We understand that past trauma is common for people struggling with addiction, which is why we provide trauma-informed services aimed at reducing triggers and avoiding re-traumatization.

Peaceful Location

Vinland's main campus in Loretto provides a peaceful and rural setting that is an ideal location for the recovery process. Situated on a hill over-looking Lake Independence, our main campus has 61 beds, separate men's and women's living areas, and a recently remodeled fitness center. The grounds include multiple walking trails accessible year-round, a basketball court, and several gardens.
