National Council Award

NC Awards of Excellence GraphicI am proud to announce that Vinland has been named as an honoree to the National Council for Community Behavioral Healthcare’s Awards of Excellence! Vinland was recognized as the Program of Significance in Excellence in Behavioral Healthcare Management.

The National Council for Behavioral Healthcare is an organization of behavioral health and addiction professionals with more than 2,000 members. Each year, the Council recognizes the innovative and inspirational efforts of those individuals and organizations who are changing the lives of children, adults, and families living with mental illnesses and addiction disorders. Of the 1,000 award applications in 2013, there were 40 award winners.

The announcement below was made by President and CEO of the National Conference, Linda Rosenburg on March 1:

“It has been inspiring — and humbling — to learn about each honoree, their positive impact on children, adults, and families living with mental illnesses and addiction disorders and their heroic personal stories. We also thank and appreciate the nearly 1,000 awards applicants who shared their stories of passion and dedication.”

Vinland’s application highlighted our programming emphasis on Illness Management and Recovery (IMR), an evidence-based mental illness and chemical dependency (MICD) treatment practice, along with our wide variety of complementary care services. Also included in the application were our outcome statistics, highlighted below:

  • 80% of Vinland’s participants complete treatment, compared to the Minnesota average completion rate of 57% and the national average completion rate of 44%.
  • 92% of Vinland program graduates report abstinence or reduced use 6 months post-treatment.
  • 93% reduction in incarcerations for Vinland’s clients post treatment.
  • 81% of Vinland program graduates report an improvement in their quality of life 6 months post-treatment.

We will receive the award April 9th at the National Council’s Celebration of Excellence Dinner in Las Vegas. To see the full list of honorees, visit thenationalcouncil.org.

This is a great honor to be recognized for our practices and innovations in the treatment field by our peers. I am so privileged to work with such a dedicated and inspiring group of people and recognize that we received this award because of the work each of them do every day!
