Edwin Swaray is an intern in Vinland’s residential chemical health program. He is currently earning a graduate certificate in addiction studies from St. Mary’s University. He has a master’s degree in health and human services from St. Mary’s University, and a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Minnesota.

How did you become interested in substance abuse counseling?
I was volunteering at the county in the vocational services department and a lot of the clients had substance abuse issues. I didn’t know this was an issue.
What do you enjoy most about your internship at Vinland?
At Vinland, the concept of rolling with resistance is fully integrated into all aspects of treatment and it makes the clients feel appreciated and validated.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
Biking and watching soccer
