New Therapeutic Exercise Center Now Open

As part of the final stage of the building expansion at Vinland’s main campus, the new therapeutic exercise center opened in April. The expanded center is located in the former kitchen and dining room. Large windows provide wonderful views of Lake Independence and let in lots of natural light to brighten the room.

“The expanded space was needed because of the growing number of clients Vinland is now able to serve,” said Jeff Willert, Vinland’s fitness & wellness manager. “The new space has improved the quality of programming we offer by allowing us to add more equipment. It also provides a private area to do initial client assessments.”

The therapeutic exercise program is a safe, slow and gentle supervised physical reconditioning program located at Vinland’s main campus. Every client receives a pre-assessment to determine their current functional capacity upon admission to our program. After the assessment, an exercise physiologist designs a personalized program to improve the client’s strength, flexibility, balance, coordination, posture, and body mechanics. Many of our clients have issues related to chronic pain, musculoskeletal injuries, and/or traumatic brain injury, which makes personalized programs a necessity. The therapeutic exercise staff works closely with each participant to encourage a life-long interest in physical fitness.

“The panoramic views are amazing and simply make everyone feel better,” Willert said. “The bright and cheery paint provides great chi when clients enter the room.”

The former therapeutic exercise center has been rehabbed for use as a yoga and meditation room.
