Meet Our Intern Don

Don Raasch  is an intern at Vinland’s residential chemical health program. He is currently earning a degree from Adler Graduate School of Psychology  studying co-occurring disorders, marriage and family therapy, and working towards his license in addiction counseling. Don’s expected graduation date is fall of 2015.

Why are you interested in your field of study?
It’s something I’ve always wanted to do. It’s a complete career change for me, but I liked the idea of helping others.

Why were you interested in an internship at Vinland?
I met Tom Beckers at an internship fair and he told me about Vinland’s program. It seemed like the place to be, and it was different than the rest.

What are your goals after graduation?
To better understand the process of co-occurring disorders and how traumatic brain injuries tie into it all.

What do you like to do in your spare time?
I am the parent of twins who just left for their freshman year of college and a 16 year old, so I’m busy with their sporting events. We also like to spend time at the cabin.

Where did you last go on vacation?
Florida Keys

Where do you most want to travel, but have never been?
Greece

What is your favorite TV show, movie, or book?
TV: I mostly watch sports
Movie: Platoon
Book: My all time favorite is Servant Leader

If you were immortal for a day, what would you do?
Helicopter ski in Banff, Canada
