Drug and Alcohol Addiction Treatment

If you have struggled to keep up with group material or assignments at other addiction treatment centers, Vinland Center could be a better program for you. Our addiction rehab program is designed for individuals* with memory issues, learning disabilities, and/or other cognitive impairments.

Vinland provides drug and alcohol treatment for adults with cognitive impairments. Our staff members strive to make all possible accommodations for cognitive deficits and adaptations for individual learning styles.

Vinland is a fully-accredited substance abuse treatment center licensed by the State of Minnesota. We use evidence-based approaches to addiction treatment. Our staff are highly-trained and licensed professionals.

At our residential treatment program, we provide integrated mental health services. For individuals struggling with a dual diagnosis of substance abuse and mental health issues, integrated treatment provides better recovery outcomes.

*Please note: as of February 2020, Vinland's residential program serves only male-identifying individuals, while our outpatient facility serves all genders. We also ceased Family Programming to include visiting family members at that time. If you need a list of residential or inpatient referral options that have worked well with our female-identifying clients in the past, feel free to reach out to mollyg@vinlandcenter.org.

Family
Program

Vinland offers a weekend educational series as a resource for people who care about someone with a substance abuse issue. The program is not considered a replacement for family counseling, but rather it is a source of information about substance abuse, cognitive disabilities, and family relationships. Research has shown that recovery is stronger and more effective when family members are educated and involved in the treatment process.

Peaceful Location

Vinland's main campus in Loretto provides a peaceful and rural setting that is an ideal location for the recovery process. Situated on a hill over-looking Lake Independence, our main campus has 61 beds, separate men's and women's living areas, and a recently remodeled fitness center. The grounds include multiple walking trails accessible year-round, a basketball court, and several gardens.

What to Expect

We provide a structured schedule of group sessions and activities, balanced with one-on-one counseling sessions.

Daily Schedule

Vinland utilizes an interdisciplinary team of professionals to treat the whole person, realizing there are many barriers to remaining sober and leading a full and rewarding life. This includes licensed drug and alcohol counselors, psychologists, psychiatrists, fitness and wellness professionals, nurses, peer recovery support and 24-hour supervision by health services technicians. When you are finished with residential treatment, we offer outpatient services at our location in Minneapolis.

Participants stay in two-to four-person bedrooms that feature attached bathrooms and accessible showers.

Our drug and alcohol treatment program typically lasts 45-90 days, but can vary depending on the needs, expectations and wants of each individual.

Evidenced-Based Approach

Vinland has a strong national reputation for providing top-quality integrative services to individuals with brain injuries, mental illnesses, learning disabilities, or other cognitive disabilities. It is well-known that a comprehensive approach like Vinland’s benefits individuals who have been unsuccessful in other treatment settings.

We interview our clients upon arrival and six months after they graduate from our program:
