Mark Berven is an intern in Vinland’s outpatient chemical health program. He is currently earning a degree in Addiction Studies from Hazelden Graduate School with an expected graduation date of December 2014.
What interests you about addiction studies?
It’s important to create a compassionate and tasteful world. I like to do that through client-centered services.
Why were you interested in an internship at Vinland?
Basically because Annette (Pearson, Outpatient Services Manager) gave a fabulous talk to our class. I wanted to work in outpatient but not just outpatient–outpatient with special populations.
What has been your most rewarding experience so far at Vinland?
The enthusiasm of the clients and the pride they have when they are able to gain some sober time.
What are your goals after graduation?
To begin practicing as an LADC and then segue into working as an LPCC.
What do you do in your spare time?
Triathlon
Where do you most want to travel, but have never been?
Alaska
If you were immortal for a day, what would you do?
Travel in space.
