Vinland’s vocational services program is a unique combination of vocational and wellness services designed with one goal in mind — to help you return to work.

Vocational services participants are men and women who have lost their jobs (and sometimes their dreams) and are willing to do whatever it takes to rejoin the workforce. We offer services to people who have sustained a work-related injury and may or may not have other disabilities that are barriers to employment. All of our participants share a common commitment — the sincere desire to return to work.

The program is designed for:

  • Those who can benefit from a more individually-focused program.

  • People who are genuinely committed to returning to work.

  • Those who are having difficulty adjusting to a work-related injury or disability.

  • Individuals who need assistance over-coming multiple barriers to employment.

What to Expect

An initial meeting involving the participant, referent and Vinland vocational counselor is held so that Vinland staff can create a uniquely tailored vocational plan for each participant. The length of each participant’s program varies depending on their needs and wants. We have a structured schedule of group sessions, balanced with one-on-one counseling sessions. We provide both day program and residential services.

Course sessions include:

  • Job seeking skills
  • Resume writing
  • Career interest testing
  • Skills abilities testing
  • Temperament indicators
  • Work values clarifications
  • Career exploration
  • Job/information interviewing
  • Individual counseling and goal setting
  • Self-esteem
  • Grief and loss
  • Anger and forgiveness
  • Basic computer and internet skills
  • Fitness and wellness

Additional Services

Psychology Services - A licensed psychologist is available to provide initial psychological assessments.

Therapeutic Exercise – Each participant receives a personalized fitness program designed under the supervision of Vinland’s fitness and wellness manager. While participation in the fitness program is optional, it is a part of each participant’s treatment plan.

Recreation Activities – There are planned indoor and outdoor recreation activities year-round at Vinland. The activities are varied, ranging from ice fishing to bike riding. No matter what the activity is, the intended result is to show participants how to find enjoyment in a leisure activity, encourage them to be socially active, and help them learn new skills that they can apply to other areas of their life.
