New Executive Director for Vinland

October 26, 2009 - Vinland National Center has selected Mary Roehl as its new executive director. Roehl has worked at Vinland for more than 10 years as the director of operations. She has served as the interim executive director for the past year.

“Her long-term commitment to Vinland and its mission has helped make Vinland a hugely successful treatment center,” Vinland National Center Board Chair Jerry Seck said.  “We were impressed by her vision for Vinland’s future – to continue Vinland’s steady growth by expanding its services to more people with disabilities.”

Since 2005 Vinland has more than doubled the number of people it serves each year and has nearly doubled its annual budget. The organization is on track to serve even more people in 2009 and is continuing on its path of steady growth.

Roehl is taking leadership of the organization at a time of significant growth. The organization recently broke ground on a new supportive house for adults with disabilities. The organization also has plans to build a new building at its main campus, an expansion that will include 20 additional beds and a new fitness center.

“We have reached our capacity in our current facility and will be doing an expansion in the near future.  This will allow us to incorporate important changes and enhancements to our services,” Roehl said.

Roehl is interested in ways to improve outcomes and success rates for Vinland participants by expanding the services already offered by Vinland.

“Supportive housing for adults in recovery with substance abuse disorders is an ongoing issue for our clients.  We will continue to expand our supportive housing services through LivingWorks Ventures and other partners,” she said.

Roehl is looking for ways to expand Vinland’s vocational services program in order to offer the program to a wider range of people.

“We offer services that are unique in both the delivery of the service and our client demographics.  Over the next few years, we will investigate the opportunities to expand those services to additional client populations,” she said.
