Join Us for the Third Annual Winter Walkabout

Woman snowshoeing at Winter Walkabout 2011Vinland Center is excited to announce the Third Annual Winter Walkabout, which will be held on Saturday, February 18, 2012.

“This is a fun opportunity for our supporters to get outside in the winter and see the beautiful property at Vinland’s main campus on Lake Independence,” said Mary Roehl, Vinland’s executive director. “The music, bonfire, and hot food really make this a festive event!”

The Winter Walkabout is open to people of all fitness and experience levels. People who have never been snowshoeing can attend the Winter Walkabout and have a great time snowshoeing. There is a very short learning curve with snowshoeing. If you can walk, you can snowshoe! Thanks to our sponsors, a limited supply of snowshoes will be available at the event for your use on a first-come, first-serve basis.

New this year, Vinland will award prizes to the top fundraisers in two categories: Most Money Raised and Most Number of Contributors. Awards will be given to an individual and a team for both categories. Although snowshoers are not required to fundraise in order to participate in the Winter Walkabout, asking for donations is a great way to spread the word about Vinland and the work that we do. More details about fundraising and the fundraiser awards are available on the Walkabout’s website.
